With Starry Night DataMaker you can create your own data files for use with Starry Night. You can make your data files as simple or as complex as you wish. As an example we have provided a number of sample files. The NGC/IC file provides the full data file that was used to create the NGC/IC data file that ships with Starry Night. The Simple.DataMaker shows an example data set with only six objects in it.
To create a new Starry Night data file, select open from the DataMaker's file menu. The DataMaker will then start processing your raw data text into a form that can be used by Starry Night. The raw data format is outlined in the sample files (those that end in ".DM").
After DataMaker has finished converting your data into the Starry Night format you can drag the newly created file into the "Starry Night Data" folder and Starry Night will then show it along with all of its other data.
